Lilly's Life Lessons

Today was a big day for Lilly and Lauren! We learned a lot of important life lessons, such as:

- Sitting on top of somebody's head is harder than it looks.
- Nike shorts aren't edible.
- Eating things you find on the floor isn't a great idea.

and most importantly...

- Some people really don't like it when you try to chew on their jewelry.

We tried to take some pictures for the blog today, but Lilly really isn't a fan of sitting still or looking at the camera. She does, however, really love sitting on my iPhone. Maybe I'll email Otterbox and let them know how great their product is at protecting your phone from pet rodents! I bet they've never heard that before...

Anyway, I'll leave you all with a couple pictures of Lilly's adventures today. Check back soon for another update!

Lilly likes to sit on my hand, it's a great place to explore.
Hanging out, doing a little grooming.

Once upon a time...

Guys, I have big news. I'm in LOVE! Her name is Lilly, and she's a Long-Evans rat that I received as part of my Psychology of Learning class. Before the class, I really didn't have any opinion on rats. My family is filled with animal lovers, so the idea of having a rat was always intriguing. By the end of lab, I'd reached my final decision: rats are the cutest, sweetest, best little animals! I was able to pick Lilly up right away, and her adorable little whiskers and dark eyes won me over immediately. Although I originally thought I had some good name ideas before lab (Matilda, Alice, and Rose were some of my favorites), I met her and knew that none of those names matched her personality. I'm not exactly sure how/when the name "Lilly" came to me, but once it did I knew it fit her perfectly.

I can't wait to spend more time with my new little friend. And don't worry, pictures are coming soon!
